This Exhibition focuses on youth subcultures and the structural position of adolescents as a "fourth gender " — a group that has not yet gained institutional discourse rights, yet is fully involved in the social order. Their bodies, emotions, and thoughts are still in formation, yet they already endure discipline, expectations, and suppression. They are required to obey, but are excluded from decision-making; their expressions are often seen as rebellious, chaotic, or immature, but seldom heard as a legitimate social language. Due to this structural dislocation, youth subcultures almost inevitably carry a rebellious character.
The exhibition space, Safehouse, responds to this situation. A Victorian-style building, it offers both a gloomy interior atmosphere and ample natural light. This space accommodates uncertainty, chaos, and vulnerability, while also providing a platform for resonance and hope through practice.
